Novi Sad is the capital of the autonomous province of Vojvodina, an area on the North of Serbia. It is located in the southern part of the Pannonian Plain, on the banks of the Danube river and on Fruska Gora mountain known for its 16 Medieval Ortodox monasteries. It is the second largest city in Serbia, located around 90 km from Belgrade. Petrovaradin fortress, one of the main landmarks of this city, is located above the right bank of the Danube River and it is one of the best-preserved fortifications in Europe. Serbia’s largest music festival – Exit is organized on the fortress every July.
